FAQ

  • How many pitchers and attendees generally attend a pitch event?

We invite up to eight companies to pitch, and between 60 – 100 audience attendees, depending on the venue. While we cap our pitch spots at eight we do keep a waitlist open, and will sometimes provide space for a wildcard (on the spot) pitch, should there be time at the event.

  • Do I need to be raising to pitch?

You don’t need to be raising money to pitch, and recently we have also started to see more companies that are looking for first customers, mentors or to build their professional network, including consultants and advisors who have learned that it’s just as important for them to learn how to pitch their story.

  • What type of feedback will I receive when pitching?

The goal is to provide feedback to improve the quality of your pitch and presentation, with the lens of preparing and setting pitchers up for success with investor conversations and competitions. This is a safe space for pitchers of all stages (including those who have never pitched before); we provide constructive and valuable feedback. Note: this is not a business coaching forum or Q&A session.

  • What do I need to do to prepare to pitch?

Within five days of the event, you will receive an email from Volition asking you to confirm your intent to pitch and to email us your pitch deck. We do recommend that you create a deck to act as your supporting actor, so to speak – even if you have only one slide, this is better than nothing. If you have never build a pitch or deck, we would be happy to provide you with a pitch building works

  • Can I have video or audio in my pitch deck?

We discourage the use of video or audio as you never know if tech will fail on site. If you do have this in your deck, please let our team know, and make sure that you are able to continue your pitch in case it doesn’t work.

  • Should I take notes when receiving feedback?

We highly encourage you to have someone film your pitch and feedback session and/or take notes.

How can we help you?
